The Five Pillars

Collective Impact — Deerfield Beach, FL — Deerfield Beach Community Cares

Our work centers on collective impact.

Communities often address quality of life issues uniquely and independently. "Collective impact" describes an intentional way of working together and sharing information to solve a complex problem.

#1: Resident Voice

Resident Voice is the driver of our cause. The ongoing committed effort is made to engage residents, and initiatives and programs are vetted by the community. In everything we do, our motto is: "Nothing About Us Without Us."

#2: System of Care

A System of Care is a spectrum of effective, community-based services. It supports children and youth/families with or at risk for mental health or other challenges and their families, is organized into a coordinated network, builds meaningful partnerships with families and youth, and addresses their cultural and linguistic needs, to help them to function better at home, in school, in the community, and throughout life.

#3: Wraparound

Wraparound is an intensive, individualized care management process for youth/families with serious or complex needs. Wraparound shifts focus away from a traditional service-driven, problem-based approach to care and, instead, follows a strength-based, need-driven approach. The intent is to build on individual and family strengths to help families achieve positive goals and improve well-being.

#4: Trauma-Responsive Care

Trauma-Responsive Care is an approach that assumes that an individual is more likely than not to have a history of trauma. Trauma-Responsive Care recognizes the presence of trauma symptoms and acknowledges trauma's role in an individual's life.

#5: Racial Equity & Equality

Racial Equity and Equality occur when institutions give equal opportunities to people of all races.
