The first iteration of our "Be Kind to Your Mind" Boxes was designed and created by youth for youth. Over 300 boxes have been and will be provided to wellness providers, school counselors, and the BSO for adolescents to enhance their social and emotional sense of self and provide a resource as an initial response to intervention.
To receive a "Be Kind to Your Mind" Box or contribute to a future production of a series of boxes, contact Joel Smith, DBCC President & CEO, at joel@dfbcommunitycares.org.
The second iteration of our "Be Kind to Your Mind" Boxes was designed for adults and their caregivers at the request of the Deerfield Beach Center for Active Aging. The first 100 boxes were distributed at the 2022 Community Fair, with an additional 400 committed for future distribution.

In 2021, we began our work as Deerfield Beach Community Cares officially by hosting a health & wellness fair on the campus of Zion Church in Deerfield Beach. Over 40 community service providers and more than 300 residents participated.
In 2022, we grew our efforts 100% by hosting more than 80 non-profit organizations, government agencies, and health & wellness providers for 700-1,000 residents in northeast Broward County.
"Having so many different organizations in one place for the sole purpose of serving our community was very special. The overwhelming participation should remind us all of what is possible when we work together. I cannot wait until next year’s fair!"
Bill Ganz, Mayor
City of Deerfield Beach

In July 2022, together with Healthy Start, we hosted and sponsored a Community Baby Shower for residents in Pompano Beach and Deerfield Beach. Over 230 pregnant women, parenting women, and their families attended.
There were FREE raffles & giveaways, resources like infant safety, breastfeeding support, post-partum health and more. Save the date for next year's event!
"With prenatal services very limited in these cities, it was [important] to bring information and resources to the residents in their hometown."
